About this deal

Above all though, this book is important – an accessible insight into what can be achieved when rewildling is taken out of its gilded cage and given a pragmatic kick in the backside. From depictions of beavers in the fables of Aesop and Native American mythology to contemporary environmental politics, Rachel Poliquin investigates the facts and fictions of beaver chain gangs, beaver-flavoured ice cream and South America’s ever-growing beaver population. Silly and gets you chuckling (definitely not a children's book) but I was disappointed at the message by the end of "conform or else"; truly a missed chance to rhyme "leave my beaver be" with "beaver diversity" or something. I saw this book shared in a series of Facebook posts and my boyfriend and I laughed our heads off reading it together.

The authors have been actively involved in the study of beaver ecology, behaviour and reintroduction for many years. Frank Rosell is a renowned beaver ecologist, publishing more than 80 scientific papers with peer review. I had this book recommended to me by a friend, who hoped I would read and review Bimisi Tayanita’s handful of “children’s stories meant for adults”.It is illustrated with many photos of the animal and its habitat, with maps showing its distribution and tables of the plants it eats and the signs it leaves. This isn’t really a children’s book but I feel like most children will miss the double entendres (so it should be OK for them to read this) which means this would be a really funny book for the entire family to read together (and make storytime more fun for the parents). He graduated from Newcastle University, where he learnt a bit about media and a lot about living without heating. They have a first-hand knowledge of beavers in captivity and in the wild in both Britain and a range of other European countries.

It's one of the first days of cold - the winter is coming, in the USA RBG lies in state - the threat of a second lockdown looms - people are miserable, isolated - the.In no way would I ever read this to a kid like some of the below comments suggest, but it would make a great gag gift. The beaver is, umm, fluffier than actual animal ones I've seen in the wild, which I assume is on purpose because of what it actually represents. Bringing Back the Beaver … is a rich and, frankly, fucking funny insight into the human attitudes, systems and bureaucracy that have impeded faster progress to reintroducing this keystone species back into the British landscape.
