About this deal

The whole squad, including the captain Eoin Morgan, had to self-isolate just before a home series against Pakistan. On 16 August 2023, it was announced Stokes would come out of ODI retirement and was named part of England's squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Though i find it quite odd that cricketers who are currently playing pen their autobiographies , i quite enjoyed this book by Ben Stokes. Even though I watched the 2019 World Cup final and knew the outcome having seen the replays so many times, I still found myself almost on the edge of my seat as Ben recounted the whole thing from his point of view.In England's first innings of the second test in Cape Town, Stokes arrived at the crease with England 167–4, facing a hat-trick ball from Kagiso Rabada. If a cricketer is lucky, such a moment comes once in a lifetime, Stokes just had two of them in two months. This may result in small marks to the dustjacket and title page, please also bear in mind that each signature will be a little different from the one we show here.

In the summer's Ashes series, he scored 441 runs at an average of more than 55, including two centuries and two fifties. He was named as England's player of the series as he ended the series as England's top run-scorer with 441 runs with 2 hundreds and 2 fifties, while also taking 8 wickets. In the first test in Abu Dhabi, he took 4–57 with the ball in Pakistan's first innings before himself scoring 57 with the bat in England's first innings; the match ultimately ended in a draw when bad light stopped play on the final day. I was thoroughly impressed with how well the summer was documented and how Stokes gave his perspective and despite this book being about his achievements he does a great job painting the picture that it's not just his success but the entire teams. Stokes moved to England at the age of 12 [4] after his father was appointed head coach of Workington Town rugby league club, and grew up in the small West Cumbrian town of Cockermouth, attending Cockermouth School and playing cricket for Cockermouth Cricket Club. If you are a 'purist' and want to know how one of the best all-rounders of cricket today thinks, you can give it a shot. Insight in to the celebrations after the tournament win, as well as Ben Stoke's sporting mindset were great; what I would say is that it was simple read and didn't shed anything too revelatory on either topics.

However, I will always be able to say I was there - England v Australia, 3rd Test, Headingley, Day 4, 25th August 2019. Biography: Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1991, Ben Stokes moved to Cumbria with his family at the age of eleven. After all there have been some exceptionally good tour books and logic suggests that the insights that participants could provide would serve only to improve them, but the reality invariably disappoints. Knowing that the writing in On Fire was the responsibility of the same collaborator, Richard Gibson, and given that by any standards the summer enjoyed by both England and Stokes this year was a remarkable one, I decided that On Fire was worth a look.

At the epicentre of England’s historic triumph was Ben Stokes, the talismanic all-rounder with an insatiable appetite for The Big Occasion. This is a fantastic and compelling read in the voice of Stokes, particularly the rollercoaster ride of the One Day World Cup.
