I’m not a huge Five Star fan, and I find this one pretty dull, though some of the instrumental hooks are quite interesting. The exclusion of Caravan Of Love is most surprising; it may have cleared the home dancefloor but could have just been included at the very end.

It’s enjoyable blue-eyed pop that sits uneasily beside the eastern-mystery of The Communards’ and their window-watching So Cold The Night. Then there’s the Nick Kamen track that nobody remembers – the Four Tops cover – before A-ha’s epic Manhattan Skyline. All subsequent releases starting from Now 10 onwards would have a full double CD release with all tracks included.

It’s well sequenced with Katherine Quaye [in Taffy guise] and her Italo beats of I Love My Radio (Midnight Radio). On the 2021 CD Now 9 re-issue, "Jack Your Body" has a strange fade out ending, unlike the "clean" ending on the 1987 Double LP. I never got how A-ha, Simply Red and Pretenders managed to be included here given how both group were on labels probably more commonly associated with the “Hits” series. Deleting this artist may remove other artists and scrobbles from your library - please handle this with caution!
