About this deal

Another interesting design change that Geekvape made with the Aegis X is that they moved the USB charging port to the top of the device. As with most external battery mods, there are 2 ways in which you can charge the battery(s). Either in the mod itself or using an external charger (recommended). Sub-ohm vaping uses coils with an Ohm resistance of less than one. It is an advanced style of vaping that uses higher vapour production and increased flavour. We recommend only using e-liquids with a VG of higher than 60% for sub-ohm vaping. Hi all. Firstly I would like to thank the wonderful Cortana from HealthCabin for sending me this Aegis X mod for review.

Here for me though this part of the review gets a little squiggly. Mine you see has a battery latch that just a little, by a smidge, does not sit fully flush in its recess. I call it the Credit Card test. If I flat edge the card on the base of the mod , or even a purpose made rule device, then slide it from rear towards the front it will just catch on the latch, from the other direction it catches near the mid section of the latch. Obviously this see's mine have a portion of the mod when set down rest on that section of the latch. Now I had to mention this as this is what I got and to do otherwise, not mention it and pretend its all good, I just can't do. The Geekvape Aegis X kit comes with several accessories that are essential to the device’s operation. When working with Li-ion (Lithium-ion), LiPo (Lithium-ion Polymer) and any rechargeable cells, please be cautious and carefully use as they are very sensitive to charging characteristics and may explode or burn if mishandled. Please make sure that you have great knowledge on all rechargeable batteries before you use them. Always charge batteries at the clean and fire-proof surface. Never leave charging batteries unattended. If you see that there are visible damages on the batteries, please do not use. Always keep, store and transport the rechargeable cells in a safe, non-conductive container in a controlled environment The new screen here is big and colorful. If you hate the little screens on most devices or if you have bad vision, you’re probably going to love this. Displayed on the screen itself you get, up top each side, you're individual battery levels, below this your chosen Power level or Temperature etc in large display and underneath these you will see Coil ohms, Voltage, Amps and Puffs. These latter four will be displayed either vertically or horizontally depending upon the Display theme chosen.I started testing this product with a huge smile on my face, and I was expecting nothing less than a huge smile at the end of my trials. So, mine? Just an anomaly it seems up to this point and easily taken care of from my end by the application of two layers of duct tape which were then cut to shape around the outside of the latch and battery door.

The pre-installed bubble glass has a 5ml capacity for liquid and the spare straight glass has a 3.5ml liquid capacity. You also have here in the Sub Menu the option of changing the colour of your chosen theme accents from Blue to Orange, Yellow, Red and Green. Here you will also find the Reset option for resetting the entire mod to default.

The X1 coil recommends vaping at 60-80w. I found at around 75 watts, with the airflow halfway open, I get the best mix of a nice slightly warm, every so slightly restrictive vape. Navigation and menu use is pretty easy to learn, and lets face it, anyone reading this is doing so either on a mobile phone, PC or tablet type device, all or some of which take just as much if not more tech savy skills than you will need in learning to use this device. New coils generally last one to two weeks depending on how often they are used and if they are properly broken in. The life of the coils can be extended with proper care and maintenance. The GeekVape Aegis X Tank If you’ve used other Geekvape mods in the past, then you’ll be familiar with the menu system. The Aegis X introduces a new submenu, allowing you to adjust various settings, themes, UI and colours. To operate the Aegis X, follow the basic steps below:

Overall, this really is a solid, powerful and robust piece of kit, something we’ve come to expect from the quality and name of Geekvape. Read on and find out just what we thought. I didn’t experience such a long break-in time with the X2 coils, which is why I felt the need to mention this. How Long Does The Aegis X Battery Last? Technically, the TCR should be 92 for SS316 wire (88-92) but as with the other Geekvape mods, the default for SS mode is 105 (which is the TCR for SS304 wire). Still, the fact you can just use the default SS mode for the most common SS wire used in vaping without adjustment is a good thing, regardless of the TCR figure. The X keeps its dual 18650 battery compartment and some small styling details compared to the legend, but that's about it. The screen has had a huge update, with a crystal clear read out of your power, ohm and battery life. The AS chip set has been upgraded to get more battery life and an even faster ramp up time as well as the same TC, Bypass, Volt and Watt options you would expect to find on a modern device.

Pros

As much as I want to say this device held up really well, and it did. I’m just surprised that the battery door is that much weaker, especially in comparison to the Aegis Legend, and Aegis Solo that I’ve used and abused before. If you like direct to lung and sub-ohm vaping and want a durable, dust and water resistant, extremely powerful kit then then for me, there is no better option. This is a truly tough mod that shows that durability doesn't have to compromise style. Review Scores
