About this deal

At Peter Tyson we pride ourselves on prompt, efficient delivery. Please note that the daily cut off time for all next day delivery services is 3pm. We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. Any additional work to the kitchen units or carpentry work required will need to be completed at the customer’s expense. The brushed steel finish is pleasantly impervious to fingerprints and a good, wide crumb tray comes out of left-hand side. The outside walls remain very cool after toasting. Above this are four buttons: A Bit More, Crumpet/Fruit Loaf that promises extra heat to the middle elements, Frozen, Cancel. There’s no button for reheating toast.

While it does seem like a steep price to pay, The Smart Toast's quality, reliability and impressive capabilities mean it should probably save you more money in the long-run. SAGE SMART TOAST REVIEW: DESIGN AND BUILD The Sage has a boxy design in a brushed-metal finish. A cable tidy on the underside is able to house a cable 1m in length from the controls end and 80cm from the other end. We understand that different breads need different toasting times for your ideal shade. The intuitive presets of this kitchen appliance allow you to toast your favourite bread types, whether its ordinary white bread or artisan bread, with variable browning control for more precise toasting. Please note: TV and larger floorstanding speaker deliveries are not available to Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Scottish Islands, and Channel Islands.Browning is set by a sliding control that runs from 1 to 6, but you can position it anywhere on that sliding scale. This controls both slots at once. Perhaps the more exciting features (and what you’re paying for) are the five auto features designed to make toasting a breeze. The buttons are self-explanatory, so you won’t have to decipher complicated symbols.

If you want to keep the toaster in the cupboard, rather than on the worktop, the cable neatly stores underneath, keeping it organized and preventing any tangling. The beep at the end of the toasting cycle is handy but it happens at the exact same time as the toast popping up, so the sound is masked. It would be better if it beeped a second earlier or later. If toast isn’t quite done enough for your taste, use the “A bit more” button to continue toasting for a further 30 seconds. The Sage looks fantastic, but initially I wasn’t particularly impressed when slotting in the bread. The two slots aren’t quite long enough to hold a large slice of bread horizontally. This meant that it had to be placed in the toaster vertically. Would the top of the slice go unbrowned? Sage, a subsidiary of Breville, specialises in high-end kitchen gear that is both well designed and exceedingly reliable. I know this because I’ve tested quite a few of its products in the past and not one of them has ever disappointed. Yes, Sage gear is a bit more expensive to buy – think Dualit and KitchenAid league – but you absolutely get your money’s worth in build quality, design and intuitiveness. You won’t find a Sage product in any colour other than brushed stainless steel and that’s the case with this tasty toaster which has a lovely silvery finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints.

I toasted one slice of white bread vertically and one horizontally to test evenness, on a middling browning setting of 3. I’ll keep this chapter relatively short because everything was pretty much a great success with this toaster. First and foremost, it toasted everything very evenly across the slice, though the inner heating elements do seem to be a bit hotter because one side of the bread was a little more browned than the other. Nevertheless, I call that a bonus because it gave me a choice of which side to butter.
