In Shrek 2, when Puss is fighting with Shrek, he sneaks into Shrek's clothing, and he burst through the ogre's shirt. This is a visual reference to the chest bursting scene in the sci-fi/horror film Alien. When Puss cries, as seen in Shrek 2 and Puss In Boots: The Three Diablos, he wipes his nose, not his eye.
