About this deal

By working with Prof Michael Heinrich we are looking at ways to learn more about plants, full stop. We work with UCL to choose the best plants and extracts to use in our drinks n ow or in the future. On top of this, we are working with the school to design and execute an independent research project into the efficacy of our products and some of our key ingredients. This we hope will provide novel research that can benefit the wider industry as well as helping us improve our products, supply chain and extraction processes. Give me three Social Elixir & gingers and I will start to become mischievous. Whether that’s a placebo effect at play or the magic of plants, I can’t tell you, but there’s definitely more going on in a glass of this than you’ll get from a standard 0% spirit. All Three Spirit Social Elixir ingredients: After a large serving, we felt the same, but maybe different? I tried this drink several times over the course of the week to really try and hone in on its effects and still can’t be sure of how it made me feel. Three Spirit drinks don’t have to be refrigerated, but you should store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. In this Three Spirit review, I will discuss both the taste and quality of the drinks, and whether they live up to their claims in terms of effects.

Guayusa – Guayusa is a natural source of caffeine that can help improve mental alertness and focus. It also contains antioxidants and other compounds that may have anti-inflammatory, cholesterol-lowering, and blood sugar-regulating effects. We focused on creating one drink initially - S ocial Elixir - but the idea was always to reach the magic number of three as soon as s o on as we could. They are all very different from one another, and that is no accident. We originally set out to look closely at alcohol and study in detail how alcohol (ethanol) interacts with the human nervous system and mechanisms responsible for mood. We identified alcohol's obvious perceived positive effects, such as loss of inhibition, relaxation and mood enhancement. We then looked to find the most suitable plants that could provide a similar effect on dopamine, serotonin and GABA in the brain. It's not just the physiological effects that were of interest, it was the undeniable cultural and sociological positives around alcohol that inspired the concept. If you are new to our drinks, we always suggest having one serving of Three Spirit first and seeing how you feel. As with traditional spirits and wine, with Three Spirit people can react differently to others; some having several servings to feel the effects of the active plants, some feeling it straight away!Made with tree saps, aromatic and ancient plants used for relaxation, Nightcap contains no caffeine and is sweetened with maple and birch saps. Guayusa leaves contain various beneficial compounds. They’re rich in antioxidants and caffeine that can ultimately promote weight loss, regulation of blood sugar, and improved mood. This review summarized the composition of beverages containing guayusa and their potential health benefits like antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

This London-based company is a clear mix of their combined talents, the ancient practice of herbalism fused into the modern art of mixology. Using potent, high-quality ingredients sourced from around the world, its spirits use unique flavors and functional plants to deliver a mood, feeling, or energy not too far off from what you may experience with liquor. I met Meeta through Tati, as they had been working together on some exciting start-up projects in the drinks space. It should also be said that I have always been attracted to plants that have physiological properties. Can a plant or substance make you feel X, Y or Z, etc? That means things like coffee and tea as well as some more exotic plants known as entheogens such as tobacco, cacao or psilocybin. These type of plants, when taken ceremonially, are traditionally used to alter one's state and allow a change of mood or perspective. These altered states can be liberating, intoxicating, healing and s ometimes overwhelming, but they also offer insight into ourselves and our surroundings in a deep and meaningful way. This is something that I am respectful of and always curious. It is perhaps through this curiosity that I have found a more recent passion for functional foods and drinks, looking at how we can utilise amazing and powerful plants to create worthy and novel products that can be beneficial and add m ore fun in our daily lives. It’s important to note that the Social Elixir contains some caffeine. In this case, it comes from Yerba Mate, a natural source of caffeine, that contains roughly the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. However, yerba mate also contains other stimulants, such as theobromine and theophylline, which can have additional benefits and a milder effect on the body compared to coffee. Three Spirit may be non-alcoholic, but these are no regular soft drinks or cordial! The amount of each active ingredient included in each of our drinks has been designed for adult consumption, not to mention the natural caffeine in our Spark and Livener. Sorry kids - Three Spirit is not for you. Designated drivers

Therapeutic terpene

Green tea is another plant that’s naturally high in caffeine as well as loaded with polyphenols, so between this and the guayasa you’re pretty much guaranteed to get a healthy buzz if energy is what you need

Three Spirit offers three different types of alcohol-free botanical beverages, but we think its name has more to do with the folks behind the company. It was created in 2018 by Dash Lilley, Tatiana Mercer, and Meera Gournay, each one of these entrepreneurs bringing their own expertise to the bar in plant science, mixology, herbalism, and art.The recommended “perfect serve” for this one is the “Light and Stormy,” a mix of Social Elixir with ginger beer or ginger ale, and a sliver of lime. Once again, Fever Tree is the perfect choice but – in all honesty – I didn’t feel it lost anything on a day when I used cheaper Schweppes mixers.

The best-case scenario is that you find a non-alcoholic drink you fall in love with, which totally changes the way you live, party, and relax. The worst thing that could happen is you find out it’s not your cup of tea (so to speak). Three Spirits says that their drinks could give you “More energy, deeper sleeps, connections enhanced”. The final affirmation for me was when I served Three Spirit to some guests. I wanted some validation to make sure I wasn’t just convincing myself these are so good, so as to prevent myself missing alcohol. But no – they really are full of flavour and, most of all, rather interesting and exciting to drink.Unfiltered for flavour and function. Some sedimentation is normal. Shake to awaken. Store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Reseal after opening and consume within 12 weeks. Please seek professional advice if pregnant or taking regular medication. After drinking a lot more of it, I do wonder how much of that effect was down to us feeling that we were having an “adult drink” for the first time in ages. I think there is some caffeine in this one too, so you get a small boost from that. It’s certainly very enjoyable to drink, and perfect for when others around you are drinking – so fun, yes, flirty? I’m still on the fence on that score!
