About this deal

The best thing of course is to make sure the drum kit is properly tuned before recording.... these little gel beauties will make the kit sound even better by getting rid of excessive ringing and harmonics. You can alter how much damping they provide by a) cutting the gel pads into smaller pieces and b) trying out where you place them on your toms/snare. The placement and size of the moon gel definitely yielded noticeable differences in sound. I have only used them once so far for a live band recording. The drummer showed up with his kit 15 mins before we were due to start, and as we were filming a live video we were on a tight schedule as the video guys were about to turn up. Also, here’s another thing: when using Moongel pads on your cymbals, the further your place them away from the center, the more effective they’ll be at reducing the sustain. Speaking of cymbals, here’s an article on why drums and cymbals never sound out of tune.

You know how they say: you want it, you got it. Here’s some info most of you will (understandably) want to skip. Moongel pads are made from: If you don’t want to buy via those links, that’s fine too: Go support your local independent music store if they deserve it! Place them in different areas for different types of drum dampening– closer to the edge of the drumhead for less dampening, closer to the center for more. Put one, two, three, or ten on your drumhead depending on the sound you want, and experiment to find the perfect location and get the perfect amount of overtone control. Moongels can also be attached to cymbals or other percussion instruments, to reduce the sustain and focus the sound. By simply moving the damper pad around the surface you can eliminate unwanted tone and obtain the exact sound the situation demands. Whether it’s during a live performance, a drumming session or a studio recording Moongel helps create the perfect sound. The most used drumhead dampening around – an essential for your kit. Precisely control the ringing, sustain, and sound of your drum kit. Also, know that your Moongel damper pads are reusable and washable. Now, ain’t that neat? Also, you’ll find them in two colors: clear (not technically a color, but you get the point) and blue. How to use Moongel for drums? I have used them on my snare and on my toms and have always achieved great results. The way moongels dampen the overtones without killing all the right frequencies is amazing. I have been using RTOM Moongel damper pads since 2010. in live and studio environment and I must say than moongel pads always delivered.

I was a sad, lonely ,****** drummer before I encountered moon gel. I can hardly describe moon gels incredible impact on my life. After moon gel I evolved into a sad, lonely mediocre drummer. Here’s a fun fact: Moongel is the most widely used drum dampener out there. What is Moongel made of?
