About this deal

Public-service organisation responsible for looking after the interests of cognac and all related activities. Cognac is a blend of spirits that is only produced in the Cognac region in France, but unlike wine, it is legally required to undergo a double distillation process and then aged in oak barrels for a number of years.

Finally, its name is printed in handwritten letters on the label to emphasise the unique character of this cognac. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it is accurate, it is not a substitute for your reading the product packaging and label prior to use. You might recognize the Martell XO for the exclusive Martell: Wings film campaign that was launched for the Cognac by James Gray. These designations, which may be included on the label, refer to the age of the youngest eau-de-vie used in making the cognac.

The ageing process generally determines the label: VS, VSOP, XO, XXO, Extra, Réserve, Hors d’Age, and Napoleon for starters. The house have also released their own tricentenary edition of the Martell XO to pander to the rich tastes of a great Cognac lover. In 1983, following a request by the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac)*, the French government drafted regulations governing the terms used to describe a cognacs’ quality. Palate :Rounded and fruity on the palate (notes of fig and walnut) followed by the characteristic power and finesse of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. Martell XO is double distilled from grapes grown in the Grand Champagne terroir of the Charente region in France and aged for a minimum of 10 years in oak casks. With its elongated shape and cut surface, the Martell Noblige bottle shape is instantly recognisable. With its dominant characteristic of Grande and Petite Champagne, Martell XO offers a pleasant body and structure in the mouth for great cognac lovers to enjoy. The respective electrifying blue and red colours that define these two cognacs catch the eye, and imagination.

The swift, the historic emblem of the House, which expresses its free spirit, appears both as a raised motif on the glass bottle. Martell Cordon Bleu is an icon of the House, created in 1912 to immediate acclaim by the founder’s great-grandson Edouard Martell. Martell is one of the oldest great cognac houses in the world, with a legacy of more than 300 years since 1715.Tronçais means the trees have been planted closer together to slow their growth rate, giving a fine grain, which imparts soft subtle tannins with wonderfully rich aromas. From the 1990s, however, each Martell cognac came to have a bottle as identifiable as the cognac itself.
